Our Busy Week !!

In Lead 21, we finished discussing Communities. Our class created Popplet Presentations demonstrating their knowledge of communities. We also began investigating and researching a large city. We are in the process of creating Animoto videos to present to our class! They will be posted next week!!

On Monday, we will begin our 4th unit of study. This is a Science-themed unit. It is called: “Earth’s Treasures”

In writing, we have continued practicing proper handwriting technique (letter formation, spacing, punctuation, etc.) We hung up 2 “I CAN” statements in our classroom. We practice these in our handwriting daily:
1. I can add details to strengthen my writing
2. I can use digital tools to produce and publish my work

In math we continue to work in unit 5. This unit we are practicing using base-ten blocks to help us learn place value. We are discussing fact patterns, weight, and greater-than/less-than.

Have you checked out our class Facebook Page?? If not, please log-into your Facebook account and search for: “Crestwood Elementary Class 1B.” I believe it should be available for parents, grandparents, family, and anybody you feel like sharing this page with! Please “like” our page!!

Phew! We survived a week full of MAPS, DIBELS, and Lead 21 assessments. Our class did GREAT! I will have reports by conferences and will share them with you at that time!

Parent-Teacher Conferences are approaching very quickly!! You should have received a “bright pink” note from our office regarding sign-up. Beginning on Monday morning, you will be able to schedule your children’s PT Conferences. Please be sure to add your child’s Title 1, Reading Recovery, or Resource Room teacher (if applicable) to our scheduled conference!! I look forward to meeting with each and every parent to discuss your child’s progress in first grade!!
