Daily 5
This week we introduced Work on Writing as well as Word Work. We incorporated both of these daily five choices into our daily routine. Each of our daily five choices will help us be more independent and gain reading and writing skills! Ask your child what their favorite thing to do during Daily 5 is!

Spelling Lists
Thank you, parents and family, for reading spelling words to your child. This will become a weekly routine. Spelling helps us investigate letters, words, and sounds. Practicing spelling helps us to be better readers and writers!!

This week’s spelling list focuses on the
short /i/ sound.
it
sit
him
hip
hill
pit
pin
lip
Tricky Words:
little
didn’t

Cadet Pride Rewards!!
Every time our class earns 5 Cadet Pride (good reward) tickets, we get to add a body part to our “Mr. Potato Head.” On Thursday, we got to choose a reward because we filled up our potato! Her name was “Mrs. Potato Claus.” Jade chose that our reward would be “No shoes Friday!” The students who chose to participate got to leave their shoes in their locker while we were in the classroom on Friday!

Classroom Celebrations Money
Please remember to send $5.00 to go toward seasonal parties and classroom celebrations if you have not already! This money will go toward purchasing special snacks, and materials for special activities throughout the school year. Thank you!

Happy Fall!
The weather is changing almost daily! Please remember to dress your child accordingly. Most students go outside for a few minutes from 8:00-8:10. I suggest always wearing a sweatshirt or light jacket when the mornings are between 50-60 degrees.

Homecoming Week is next week! Students may choose to “dress up:”
Monday: Favorite Sports Team Day
Tuesday: Camouflage Day
Wednesday: First Grade wears purple
(every grade wears a different color)
