Happy Friday!
We had a busy week! We finished our Lead 21 theme "Earth's Treasures" today. Next week we will begin an inquiry project using the website neok12. Groups of students will be responsible for choosing one of Earth's Treasures and making an online book about that treasure! I hope to have these books posted by next Friday!!
This week, students answered
"What can we do to care for Earth?"
We discovered that there are many things that we can do to protect Earth's natural resources. We can recycle, conserve energy/water, pick up trash at parks and outside, walk and ride our bike instead of driving cars, plant trees and vegetables, etc.
In Math we have begun discussing animals weights. We have compared them, ordered them based on their weights, used tens/ones cubes to show weights, used calculators to add two animals weights together! Whew! We were busy!!!
In writing, we read a book called "Mouse Views." We wrote two stories. The first story was describing something that we viewed in our classroom. The second story was written after we took a "mouse walk" around school and observed various classrooms, the hallway, and the lunchroom. Each student chose something to write about. Their stories began.... "We took a walk around school. I saw something cool!" They continued by giving clues about what they viewed and we had to guess what their object was!! Many of the things we chose to write about were found in either the music, pe, or art rooms!!
